Aker BioMarine

Scope

Aker BioMarine is a world-leading biotechnological company in its production of nutritional and dietary products containing krill from Antarctic waters. In 2022, Aker BioMarine began the construction of a new krill factory in Ski, Nordre Follo municipality in Norway. The factory is the first to produce protein based on krill and is also a combined research and innovation center. The factory is approximately 3000 square meters in size.

What the Client Needed

Morten Borsum, Sales Manager at BLÜCHER for Eastern Norway, says:

- Hygiene and safety were paramount because this is a food production company. Therefore, our most hygienic drainage solution, HygienicPro, was chosen in the form of both drains and channels. The longest channel in the facility is over 20 meters long.

Solution

In addition to 75 meters of HygienicPro channels and 35 HygienicPro drains, 350 meters of stainless steel pipes in various dimensions from 50-250 mm were also delivered.

City Rør AS carried out the installation under the direction of Kristian Nordermoen.

 - The pipes are easy to work with, says Kristian. They weigh little and are easy to handle with the pipe cutter. So, the assembly is quick.

The installation of the hygiene channels also went well:

- Long channels were joined with flanges. They come fully marked up, so connecting them was easy. This will be an excellent and safe facility, which we are proud to deliver.
