Hygiene is a central theme in BLÜCHER’s development of scuppers, drains, trench drains and channels. This is one of the reasons why BLÜCHER works closely with the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) and seeks to adhere to the EHEDG guidelines for food processing equipment. 

Working for better hygiene in the food industry
BLÜCHER is a member of the EHEDG and contributes to the work for better hygiene in the food processing industry. BLÜCHER hopes to be able to support the increasing focus on hygiene in buildings, as the demands on producers and supermarket are increasing. As a result, there is an increased focus on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and the drainage design should support the HACCP plan.

Choosing the right solution from the start
In order to ensure a hygienic drainage system for new buildings in the food processing industry, it is essential to choose the right solution from the start, as it can be a costly affair to replace the drainage system at a later stage. Moreover, it is important to consider the total costs of the drainage project, such as costs of installation, labour, product-life expectancy and the drainage system’s performance and maintenance.
