The world-largest luxury yacht - with BLÜCHER® products

With a length of 160 m, a beam of 22 m and a draft of 5 m, the yacht currently known as “Platinum” is the largest luxury yacht to be built to date.

Originally a collaboration between the German shipyards Lürssen and Blohm+Voss, the Platinum project was commissioned as early as in 1996 by the Brunei Prince Jefri Bolkiah, but due to lack of funds, the project was decommissioned a few years later.

In 2001, the project was sold to the Crown Prince of Dubai who had the vessel towed to his home country to complete the construction. Platinum was launched in April 2005, and delivery is scheduled for the end of 2005.

Platinum is a well-conceived yacht combining the massive engineering experience of the two shipyards. Numerous luxurious features are expected onboard this mini-cruiseship resembling motoryacht. However, exact details about the interior of the Platinum have not yet been disclosed – as is also the case as regards the actual name of the yacht.

The Platinum will be propelled by four 9000 horsepower diesel engines.

For the Platinum, BLÜCHER has supplied its stainless steel deck drains and the BLÜCHER EuroPipe® drainage pipework system for the black- and greywater installations. In addition, BLÜCHER EuroPipe® is also used in Platinum’s central vacuum cleaning system.
